Suicide Peer Support Groups
A place to talk about what you’re going through.
In our support groups we are free to talk about, vent, sit with, or make sense of suicidal experiences, distress or the desire to die, without fearing hospitalisation or the police being called.
We have groups open to the general community that are inclusive of all people regardless of age, culture, faith, disability, gender, sexuality or circumstance. Our groups are for people 18+ years old with personal experience of suicidal thoughts, feelings or actions. The groups run every week and you’re welcome to come whenever it works for you.
All DISCHARGED Group Facilitators identify with having lived experience of suicidal thoughts, feelings or actions. This means we have a unique insight into what it’s like to want to die. Many of us have also been through mental health system based traumas (like forced hospitalisation). We are all highly trained in the ‘Alternatives to Suicide’ approach and are experienced in providing compassionate listening that recognises each individual’s autonomy and expertise.

We use the Zoom meeting app which is free to download for your computer or smartphone.
To join using video, you have two options. First, you can follow the web link, or just open the Zoom app and type in the meeting ID. This will bring you straight into our call.
Alternatively you can call in from your phone anywhere in Australia on (08) 7150 1149. You’ll be able to hear everyone - just not see them.
To join one of our online groups via phone call, simply dial the above number and type in the meeting ID. Zoom will then ask you for your participant code - this can be any random number.
It’s that easy! You’re now in the meeting.

As DISCHARGED is based in Western Australia, all of our in-person groups are currently located in the Perth metro area.
Our in-person groups are casual and friendly. We run them in a community space to make them as comfortable as possible. There’s couches and there’s usually a kitchen.
To attend an in-person group, all you need to do is take note of when and where we are meeting, and come along as often as you like.
Doors open 30 minutes before group starts. We ask that you arrive at least five minutes before the start time. The first ten minutes is when we share important group information.
Sometimes unexpected things happen. If it’s your first time coming along and you’re running late, one of our facilitators will welcome you and let you know how the group works.
When you arrive at the group location, the door may be locked. If this is the case, just ring the bell.
